Color Me Bonita - #NewHairResolution

@LUSHCosmetics #NewHairResolution - No I am not planning to grow a beard.

Our friends at LUSH Cosmetics have a #NewHairResolution contest that is open through the end of the week... You can win 6 free months of hair care just by tweeting, instagramming and pinning about your strands.

This is NOT my typical hair style. I usually whip my wet hair back into a twisted bun and secure it with spin pins. But my #NewHairResolution is to take care of my long strands with conditioning treatments to prevent breakage. And to show it off!

I have worn my hair down twice in the last week and both times I received compliments. So I may have to wake up 10 minutes earlier to get in time to dry my hair every morning but if I can do it 3 or more times a week that is progress.

What I think has helped is Lush's Shine So Bright Split End Treatment. Just a little of this product goes a long way to smoothing out my unprofessional blow dry. My ends go from fried to sleek in an instant. But it is super light weight and doesn't weigh your hair down so you can style as you please.

And I was totally inspired by Jenna Lyons on the Today Show yesterday with my outfit today. She rocked the striped T, jean jacket and statement necklace and I felt that my Wednesday style needed some pep!

Color Me Styled - National Popcorn Day!

Normally we don't need a reason to eat popcorn but tomorrow we've got one for good measure. It is National Popcorn Day!

In case your calendar didn't have a reminder set up we've got a few ideas for how to celebrate.

You can whip up a batch of Confetti Popcorn or if you're more into savory try Truffle Salt & Bacon Popcorn (recipe found here). With your munchies at hand put up your feet and tune in to Saturday Night Live where our girl crush Jennifer Lawrence will be hosting.

To make it a truly indulgent holiday I recommend trying LUSH Cosmetic's Let The Good Times Roll Facial bar with a popcorn garnish (no lies) and Popcorn Lip Scrub! I admit I am skeptical of popcorn flavored things (too many popcorn flavored jelly bellies haunt my taste buds) but the facial bar has a vanilla and toffee sent and the lip scrub is sweet like kettle corn.

Honor the tasty snack on it's national day with a bit of pampering while you nosh. Have a fantastic weekend!

LUSH Amandopondo Bubble Bar

Relax tonight by slipping into a bath! As if you need a reason... but if you do... it is National Bubble Bath Day!

While you're at it... have a cup of tea and queue up the Pandora Sleep Station.

Color Me Bonita - Fall for Bathtime

Jacko c/o LUSH Cosmetics

Our friends at LUSH are up to it again. This season they've released a whole new set of fall products including Jacko. Draw yourself a bath and pop Jacko in and he'll fizzle away leaving a fragrant, warm and comforting bath time for you. After all the little trick or treaters have paraded through, take a little "me" time. You deserve it. you gave out Kit-Kats after all. (They were are my favorite candy bar)

I felt like I was dipped into a mug of chai tea! After a long day in my heels and battling the rain the warming bath with clove bud and cardamom oils melted my stress away. Lush added spearmint oil to Jacko for a refreshing twist! It is a limited edition fizzer so get your hands on one while you can! Or four... I wouldn't complain about 4 more Jacko soaks.

You've got half of Gone Girl left and a great time to enjoy it would be in a bath!

Color Me Bonita - Dog Days of Summer Beauty

As Labor Day approaches we're tempted to think about snuggling up at football games with chai teas and pumpkin flavored everything... but wait... the forecast is calling for 80s and 90s?!!

Luckily LUSH Cosmetics has you covered with their year-round summery products. Even though it is September, the dog days of summer should still be spent at the pool or beach or anywhere outside.

And after a day at the beach, not much feels better than a good shower!

Try Seanik ($10.95) which is a solid shampoo that softens you hair and also pumps up the volume as it moisturizes. Now, you've heard of dry shampoo so what is a shampoo puck? We were skeptical too but trust us, it rocks. It lathers up like a bar of soap and leaves your hair super soft.

Now that our hair is clean it is time to tackle the sand and sunscreen residue with Dirty Springwash Shower Gel ($9.95 for 3.3oz, $17.95 for 8,8oz or $27.95 for 16.9oz). The refreshing blend of menthol and spearmint soothes and leaves your skin cool as a cucumber and ready to heat up late summer nights!

Take your beach-babe body even further with Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub ($19.95 for 4.2oz, $34.95 for 8.8 oz). Some body scrubs are too course and can kind of hurt! This body scrub is smooth and creamy and leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean.

Finally, nothing says I've had a relaxing day at the beach than a fresh, glowing face. LUSH helps you achieve it with their Breath of Fresh Air Facial Toner ($8.95 for 3.3oz, $19.95 for 8.4oz). Just a few spritzes and your face feels hydrated and smooth. It feels great right after your shower and before your normal makeup routine.

Color Me Bonita - Emotional Brilliance at Lush

Source:  http://www.lushusa.com

Near the top of the list for most luxurious pass times?  A bath. And any number of LUSH Fresh Handmade bath bombs, bubbles and bars can make a bath even more luxurious was. Make any excuse you can to visit a LUSH store as soon as possible.

But, the ladies of LUSH (Lushies) realize that we all can't be settling in for baths on a regular basis (once a year at best!) so co-founder and product innovator Rowena Bird developed the Emotional Brilliance color line for LUSH, launching nationwide tomorrow! (July 21st)

If Emotional Brilliance sounds kind of familiar you probably had a Psych 101 class in your past... it is similar to Emotional Intelligence and the line of lip and eye colors are developed to suit your mood. LUSH worked with Lady Kennedy, a Strategic Behavioral Therapist who specializes in the attitudes that correspond to colors. The idea is that we are drawn to colors based on our emotions not because they are our favorites.

Still with me? Okay. There is a game to play. A color wheel spins in front of you and you are just to take it in and clear your mind. When the wheel stops, pick the three colors you are drawn to.

Pick #1: your Strength or Weakness
Pick #2: your Subconscious Need
Pick #3: your Talent (what you need to achieve your subconscious need)

Not only is this one of the coolest approaches to make-up, the entire line is vegan, the packaging is as environmentally friendly as possible and the value is huge for the amount of product you get.

I got to sample the Emotional Brilliance line and actually got to try a Colour Supplement foundation product, the "Feeling Younger" highlighter and "Charisma" bronzer. A new mascara is launching as well that contains only one preservative (most on the market contain 4-6) which will not irritate the eyes, but the wheatgrass actually conditions and nourishes the lashes!

And in case you were wondering:

My Strength or Weakness:
In-Charge
(electric blue eyeliner)

My Subconscious Need:
Strong
(red-orange (not to be confused with orange-red) lip color)

My Talent (what you need to achieve your subconscious need):
Bubbly
(shimmery peony pink lip color)
