Color Me Styled - Brisk Brunch

Brisk Brunch

Brisk Brunch by ebdaily

Just because it is too cold in most climates to enjoy a mimosa on a patio doesn't mean that one shouldn't brunch.

Brunching is, after all, an essential part of a Color Me Styled lady's life.

In the winter I suggest wearing a slimming black top, skinny jeans cuffed at the ankle and little booties with a barely there heel. Wear your dress coat and keep your make-up at a minimum. Top your ensemble with a pop of color hair piece on a half up-half down do.

#cheers!

This weekend I'm having brunch with Cait of Pretty and Fun. If you haven't checked out her blog you should. She's a transplant from NJ who likes all things Pretty and all things Fun! Chicago is glad to have her.

Speaking of other bloggers, in the next few weeks I'm going to put up a Blog Roll of my daily reads and where I find inspiration on the web. The actual list of blogs I visit is huge so I'm going to feature my favorites and then maybe down the road create a page with all of my blog-obsessions.

What do you all think of the re-design? I like this layout a lot better. Does it work on everyone's browsers? I have a few more enhancements planned for the next two months and then I'm hitting the shameless marketing portion of my 2013 plan.

Basically, tell your friends about the blog... it won't be pretty if I have to beg :)

Color Me Styled - Rockin' NYE

Color Me Styled - Rockin' NYE

Color Me Styled - Rockin' NYE by ebdaily featuring faux leather leggings

To celebrate a rockin' New Year's Eve in honor of Dick Clark this year, and because we couldn't pass up the opportunity, Danny and I are headed to a Third Eye Blind concert tonight at the House of Blues Chicago!

Normally for NYE I am one of the gaggle of gals who wear tiny sparkly dresses with no tights and no coat because coat checks are a hassle on a night like this. And I have to admit, my lack of regard for the temperatures on January 1st was appropriate for the year we went out, couldn't find a cab home in the snow, made our way to a pizza place before finding the train and then singing Madonna with the transvestite in a fur coat that we met.

But now, as a much more practical adult, I'll be wearing faux leather leggings, a tank top and black pumps. My phone and wallet will be kept safely in a wristlet (with a strap). I'll wear non-sparkly yet smokey eye shadow with a  deep red lip. And I'll have punky pink streaks in my hair.

I could barely resist all of the studded shoes and tops out there but knowing me and my style they'd just sit in my closet unused after tomorrow. Shoes deserve to be loved and used often.

And... I will be wearing a coat since Chicago temps are supposed to be a balmy 19 degrees (feels like 8).

I hope you all have a fantastic night celebrating 2012 and CHEERS to 2013!

Color Me Bonita - Summer Makeup - Day to Night

Summer Makeup - Day to Night

Best part about the summer is having fun filled afternoons spill into evenings and into hot summer nights (we'll give you a minute to sing along with us... Summer lovin' happened so fast... Tell me more! Tell me more!... okay, ready? Here we go)

But how do you roll from day to night as smoothly as Danny and Sandy? This is how the CMS team does it!

If you have normal to combination skin, start with a moisturizer with SPF and cover your whole face with a mineral powder for an even tone. If you have dry skin use a tinted moisturizer and a setting powder as your base.

Smooth out eye lid and create a canvas for long-lasting eye wear with Smashbox's Eyelid Primer. To create a summery and smokey eye with a shimmer brick or a multi-shade eye shadow pallet. Use the darkest color in the crease of your eye and the lightest color on your lid and then up to your brow. Finish with mascara on both top and bottom lashes.

Use your shimmer brick or a peachy blush on your cheek bones. And your collar bone if you're wearing a tank top!

Smooth a tinted lip treatment on to finish your face. If you don't already use a stick from the Fresh Sugar line you are missing out! We love each one from untinted to Plum.

The best kept secret of summer make-up (year round for that matter) is Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray. Essentially, it is hair spray for your makeup. It will keep your look in place from brunch to bar-b-que and from coffee to cocktails. There is a travel size available if you're skeptical but we promise the big bottle is worth every penny.

Finish your look with a bright summer manicure and pedicure. And snap lots of pictures of your super fun times - tweet your beautiful mugs to us @ColorMe_Styled using the hashtag #CMS4Summer
